Who we are

HGV Hours Tracker is an independent app made by a UK HGV driver. If you have any questions about this policy, email support@hgvhourstracker.co.uk.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter or record in the app is stored only on your device:

• Shift records: times, breaks, driving and other work, notes, mileage and vehicle registrations
• Your driver profile: name, company, licence and card number, phone number (all optional)
• Wage settings, pay rates and calculated wages
• Shift planner entries: holidays, rest, sick and special days
• Walkaround and vehicle check photos, scanned manifests and tachograph card data (.ddd files)
• App settings and alarms

We don't run servers that collect this data, and we can't see it.

Phone permissions

• Location: to tell driving from other work, end a break when you drive off, and set the Auto theme from sunrise and sunset. Used on the phone only, and not stored as a location history.
• Camera & photos: for walkaround photos, scanning registrations and manifests. Text recognition runs on your phone.
• NFC / USB: to read your tachograph driver card.
• Notifications & alarms: for WTD, duty, break and wake-up alerts.

You can change any of these in your phone's settings at any time.

Things that leave your phone only when you choose

• Exports and backups: PDFs, CSVs, backup and .ddd files go wherever you send or save them, such as email or cloud storage. That's then covered by that service's privacy policy.
• Maps: tapping a manifest address opens it in your maps app.
• Watch and in-car displays: shift status is shared with your own paired watch, CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Home Assistant (optional): if you turn this on, the app sends your alarm time to your own Home Assistant server. It never comes to us.

Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your card details. The app only checks with Google or Apple whether your subscription is active. Google and Apple may also give us anonymous crash and usage statistics under their own policies.

This website

This website has no cookies, no analytics and no adverts. It's hosted by 123 Reg, whose servers keep standard access logs, and the fonts load from Google Fonts. If you email us, we only use your email to reply to you, and we don't add you to any mailing list.

Children

The app is made for professional drivers and isn't aimed at children.

Your rights

Because your data is on your phone, you're in control. Delete it any time with Settings → Clear all data, or by uninstalling the app. If you've emailed us and want that email deleted, just ask.

Changes

If anything here changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
